Testing out Burger King’s Mobile Payment Program

I’ve been hearing a lot about mobile payments lately, so when I found myself in Salt Lake City on a work trip and heard that Burger King was piloting a new mobile payment system in town, I had to check it out.

It was incredibly easy. I loved it!

I set up the app before I went to the restaurant. It was the first app that came up when I searched “Burger King” in the Apple App Store.

Here are the steps the app made me go through to get set up:

Once I got to the restaurant, there was plenty of signage, and the person in front of me in line was actually using the app for the first time as well.

There is a QR code on every register, and when you click scan to pay, a lens shows up in the app and as soon as it sees the QR code, it reacts without you having to press anything.

You can reload at any time, but looks like it has to be in specific increments.

Our Take:

It was definitely a customer-friendly experience. More and more businesses are going to be rolling out mobile payment options and they’re going to make buying goods and services even easier than it is today. Making it easy is a key to getting people to use mobile payment apps, and so is ensuring security.

What about you? Have you made a mobile payment yet with your device? How did the app work for you? And if you haven’t used one yet, what’s holding you back?
