As a Massachusetts voter, I want you to know that I value the freedom, mobility, productivity and security that my wireless phone provides every day. I am concerned about bills in the Senate and House that would impose new state regulations, which are not only unnecessary, but will have negative consequences for wireless consumers like me.
Senate Bill 1790 and House Bill 3331 would impose harmful regulations that would not only create unnecessary new state government bureaucracy, but would reduce my choices, increase confusion about wireless services, and ultimately raise the price I pay for wireless. This is not what Massachusetts wireless consumers like me want!
Over the past few years, my wireless prices have fallen dramatically while at the same time I get more minutes in my plan. I have more choices of service providers and service plan options than ever. And, it seems that every day there are new features and functions available for my wireless phone. These proposed state regulations won’t give me anything new – except higher prices and delays in innovative new products and service improvements. There is simply no need for the state government to meddle in the wireless marketplace, where consumers like me enjoy so much value and choice.
I already pay hefty government taxes and fees on my monthly wireless bill, much higher than I pay for other goods and services. I urge you to keep wireless accessible and affordable for me and millions of other Massachusetts wireless consumers. Please oppose any effort to add more state regulations to my wireless service. Please oppose SB 1790 and HB 3331!
