Wireless technology has always provided consumers an extra sense of personal safety and security. But wireless users have also been very active in stepping up to help others. More than 224,000 times every day, average Americans use wireless to dial 9-1-1 or other emergency services – to get help, to stop a crime, or to help someone else in need.Now there’s an important new service available to wireless consumers!! Wireless companies have partnered with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and the Department of Justice to make AMBER Alerts™ available to wireless consumers via text messages. Wireless AMBER Alerts will significantly increase the reach of the overall AMBER Alert program, by informing people of emergency situations wherever they are. Experience shows that the first 3 hours are critical to the recovery of an abducted child. So, Wireless AMBER Alerts will be an invaluable tool to help find missing children.
How to Sign Up: Any wireless user can sign up to receive geographically specific Wireless AMBER Alerts at www.wirelessamberalerts.org. Or, you can also visit your wireless carrier's Web site.
Hopefully, Wireless AMBER Alerts will help prevent child abductions as well.
