As one of the more than 7 million wireless users in Pennsylvania I would like to thank you for supporting the repeal of the state’s Gross Receipts Tax on wireless service. Now I hope you can convince your Senate colleagues to do the same!

Your leadership in passing this bill was the right thing to do for all Pennsylvanians. It will help ensure that consumers can access the benefits wireless service provides, as well as the freedom to stay connected with friends and family and to be more productive at work.

As you know, Pennsylvania ranks 8th in the nation for wireless taxes – with more than $9 of the average monthly bill going towards taxes, fees and government mandates. This hefty tax burden hits people on limited budgets – like senior citizens, working families and small businesses – extremely hard. Frankly, these taxes could make the safety and security of wireless unaffordable and inaccessible for many Pennsylvanians.

I commend your commitment to make Pennsylvania taxes fairer and ask that you continue supporting efforts to maintain affordable access to wireless services in Pennsylvania. Please urge your Senate colleagues to join your efforts.
